| Gospel:
"I am the vine, you are the branches. Whoever remains in me
and I in him will bear much fruit, because without me you
can do nothing." (John 15:5)
St. Vincent:
"Do you want a perfect example of the perfection of the Father?
You have it in Jesus."
Our
Constitutions: "The members of our Congregation make profession
of the vows of chastity, poverty and obedience.... By this
public act we form a bond with God... promising to constantly
pursue perfect love by the observance of the three evangelical
counsels." (#16,17)

The counsels of the Gospel
are given to all who would follow Christ. As Pallottine
religious we make a public profession to witness to our
intent to make primary in our lives the following of the
poor, chaste and obedient Christ and so take vows of poverty,
chastity and obedience.
We see chastity as a surpassing
gift of Christ by which he offers us His friendship and
to which we respond by choosing Him as the unique Love of
our lives. Chastity liberates our hearts in a special way
and inflames it more and more with love toward God and our
neighbor.
For us poverty is an expression
of our choice to follow Christ who made Himself poor for
us. He came to enrich us with His poverty: though divine,
he was willing to take on human form to achieve the Father's
will. Poverty frees us to seek above all else the Kingdom
of God and His glory with eagerness and confidence
By our obedience we make a
free and deliberate offering of our will to God. This emptying
and offering of ourselves in imitation of Christ who was
obedient to the Father frees us to be open to the movements
of the Holy Spirit.
