Recognizing and Affirming the Image of God in All People

Scripture: "“For those he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, so that he might be the     firstborn among many brothers.” (Rom 8:29)

St. Vincent: “The human soul is a masterpiece of God, the supreme artist.”

Our Constitutions: “The Founder kept in mind the whole Church in her work of evangelization, service and loving presence     among all people, making them aware of being images of God who wants all to be saved and to be imitators of Jesus Christ.”     (#4)

The imitation of Jesus Christ, Apostle of the Father, requires of us that we do what the Father sent Him to do. That means that we are to help others realize their relationship with the Father who so loved them as to create them in the divine image and to send Jesus to help them restore that image in themselves.

While we see our main apostolic thrust as fostering the apostolic call of everyone, we realize that noone can do the work of Jesus without first affirming in themselves their divine inheritance. Only then, can they call others to help gather the harvest as co-apostles with Jesus.

The affirmation of others demands of us that we treat others with love and humility, always respecting the dignity that belongs to each human being by virtue of their creation in God’s image and likeness.
