In explaining the title of
his Union, St. Vincent said that it "is called 'of the Catholic
Apostolate," in other words, universal apostolate because
its purpose is to inspire and animate all classes of persons
to do all they can for the glory of God...".
In so animating others, Pallotti
was careful never to impose particular obligations so that
their actions would always flow from love, from the desire
to do God's will. The one practice he did commend to members
was the daily prayer to Mary, Queen of Apostles in which
we resolve to devote "our talents, learning, material goods,
profession, health, sickness, tribulation, and every gift
of nature and grace" to the glory of God and the welfare
of others.
As Pallottines we recognize
that all is gift from God and that gifts are given for the
sake of others. We seek to know our personal gifts, so we
can put them at the service of others. We affirm the gifts
in others and encourage them to use them for the sake of
the Kingdom.
